Welcome to Roswell

Where historic beauty, nature, and a small-town feel come together to create a place perfect to call home

The historic and well-established City of Roswell lies nestled against Alpharetta’s western border and just north of Sandy Springs, 25 minutes from Atlanta. Born of a milling establishment, Roswell was founded in 1839 and officially incorporated in 1854. With its long and rich history, Roswell is a city brimming with character and charm. From tree-lined streets to the plentiful parks and recreational areas, all the way to the astonishing brilliance of the historic district—which often has Southern Trilogy home tours—residents of Roswell can enjoy a story-book setting while also maintaining the conveniences of a larger city.

Since its inception, Roswell has grown into a bustling city of around 94,000 citizens who can access a variety of incredibly priced residential housing. Among the imperious historic Federal homes and sophisticated bungalows from the 1980s, you’ll also find plenty of new-build contemporary homes and single-family detached homes whose transitional styles are well-suited to most personal aesthetics. Houses here come on decent-sized plots, often surrounded by beautiful woods, though there are also several small communities where you’ll be able to find cul-de-sac homes, too.

What to Love

  • Vibrant history, including Civil-War Era relevance
  • Ample green space, including 13 parks
  • Quick access to Atlanta

People & Lifestyle

Roswell is a good mix of family households and non-families, married couples and those with kids, and professionals searching for a more suburban feel with an easy commute into the city. Residents rarely run out of things to do, and outdoors enthusiasts will love exploring the Chattahoochee River. It’s an excellent place for foodies, rated one of the safest cities in the United States, and has a reputation for its natural splendor that melds seamlessly with its historical flair.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

As lovely and charming as a scene straight from a movie set, Canton Street in the heart of Roswell’s Historic District has been named as a Georgia Great Street thanks to its charismatic architecture, brick-paved sidewalk cafés, exciting restaurants, and a plethora of local shops lining the streets. On Canton Street, you can find everything from antiques to locally-bottled olive oil, home goods at stores like Steel and Cotton, and the newest fashions at boutiques like Belle Mode.

Roswell also has an incredible array of dining options, including three breweries and venues that range from casual-fast to opulent fine dining. VG Bistro takes a creative and fresh approach to traditional French American cuisine, crafting a menu that’s as elegant and inviting as their airy dining room. If you prefer a place with live music and a hopping atmosphere, look no further than Pure Taqueria. In addition to their delectable tacos, house margaritas, and savory Mexican fare, Pure Taqueria boasts a rooftop lounge that features live performances throughout the week.

For authentic Southern comfort food with a contemporary feel, Peach & the Porkchop is a must-try and local favorite. From their booze-infused milkshakes to the fried chicken, ribs, and gourmet sandwiches, Peach & the Porkchop ensures that families and diners always leave fully satiated and satisfied.

Things to Do

Whether you’re taking time to adventure out to the Chattahoochee, participating in one of the many seasonal festivals, or spending a day at the park with the kids, Roswell offers up a wide range of ways to make memories and build connections. Roswell Park has amenities including an art studio, a gymnastics and dance center, and a pool, along with outdoor trails, sports fields, tennis courts, picnic areas, a pond, a playground, and tons of space for the kids to explore.

Better known for its riverside status along the Chattahoochee and plentiful water activities, Azalea Park is another local hotspot for recreation and offers kayaking, fishing, hiking, and picnicking. For the adventurers at heart, the 127-acre Chattahoochee Nature Center is absolute heaven. Here, you can test your mettle on the exciting aerial course or the zipline, then navigate the land via woodland trails or canoe.
